ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair, member of the STRABAG Artaward jury

Adrian Buschmann describes his pictures as emotional painting and thus primarily refers to his picture themes and motifs. The subjectively emotional aspect of his work, which has something irrational and unconscious about it, contrasts with the extremely precise compositions of the objects in the picture. The reduction, bordering on refusal, makes the not - painted conscious in a strange way. Fleetingness and a feeling of extreme decisiveness lie side by side, while lightness and sharpness oscillate into an underlying duality. The artist follows the idea that ideas are not closed, finished structures. According to Buschmann, ideas are based less on the idea of creativity than on a procedural structure.

Or, as Francis Bacon said in conversation with David Sylvester (Munich 1982): “I tried to depict a bird [...] but suddenly the lines I had drawn suggested something completely different, and from this suggestion it is Picture taken. I never intended to make the picture that way, I never imagined it to be that way. ”Text by Henriette van der Werff, Berlin, 2012
