ABOUT THE ARTIST
Goschka Gawlik, Art critic and member of the jury of STRABAG Artaward
Painting, man and the human body form an unbreakable bond in the images of Irmina Staś. Born in Zelechów, Poland, in 1986, the artist approaches these sensitive and persistent existential questions. She explores ways of representation of our thoughts and emotions, experiences and impressions are the sources for her own individual style. Based on the physiology of the human body, biomorphic structures - "organisms" - arise out of the center and break through a maze of lifelines. Irmina Staś plays with the instability and fragility of our biological existence, her paintings provoke our imagination.
